Almost two years ago, Alberto Bernal, from Salamanca, decided to open Bernal Peluqueros, located at Avenida Cardenal Cisneros, 29. A business in which he has put all his hopes and dreams and that allows him to practice the profession he has lived since he was a child, since most of his family is part of this profession. Alberto talks to us about his beginnings in this sector as well as the trends for next summer, while his partner, Elma, tells us what hairstyles we will see at weddings.

How did you get started in the industry?

I started 16 years ago. Initially I have worked for 12 years as a technical stylist, giving courses of cut and color as well as fashion in different countries of Europe and Latin America. I am the son and brother of hairdressers so I have lived all this since I was a child. But almost two years ago I decided to start my own hairdressing salon, a decision I am very proud of.

What motivated you to make this change in your life?

I was tired of the pace of traveling. Also, my girlfriend came to live in Palencia, that's the real reason that made me decide to start a business here and I'm very happy I did. The people of Palencia have welcomed me very well, I am very happy with the city.

Does "Bernal Peluqueros" have a particular style?

In hairdressing I like to apply visagism, through which we study the facial features of a person, such as features, contours, ovals or skin, to help us decide which haircut is more convenient. It also influences the emotional aspect of the client, if he/she is daring, classic or conservative. In short, see how you are so that the hair transmits the same, also keeping in mind the trends.

In terms of cut, what is going to be the most popular thing to wear this summer?

For short hair, the trends are pixie cuts and half-lengths, as well as frizzy hair. Long hair is also worn with volume, texture and waves.

Brides want to look natural, to be themselves. We recommend that they come in for a trial of the updo as well as a hair hydration treatment. For brides we will apply a 20% discount on the work we do.

What are the most innovative treatments to apply to the hair?

Plant stem cell treatments with lotus flower oil that restructures the hair. It is very economical so it is having a lot of success. For summer, it leaves hair shiny and silky.

Bernal Peluqueros" will soon be two years old. What is your assessment of this time?

I am very happy. In this time I have managed to build a steady clientele that comes back because they feel at ease here, because they receive personal treatment and because they are happy with our services. During this time what I have tried to do is to make the clients feel beautiful and young.

Is training in the hairdressing industry essential?

Yes, we are learning day by day and it is very interesting to go abroad to see how other colleagues work. Seeing other styles enriches us a lot. We must not lose the vitality of hairdressing.
