When Alberto Bernal is asked about his assessment of these years at the helm of Bernal Peluqueros, he smiles. This young man from Salamanca, owner of the hairdressing salon located at Avenida Cardenal Cisneros, 29, confesses that he is "very comfortable" in our city, not only because of the warm welcome he has received from the people of Palencia but, above all, because of the growth his business is experiencing. "It is true that the sector is evolving slowly, but it is improving: we can't complain," says Alberto; in fact, in just three years he has been able to increase his staff by two more workers.
But this entrepreneur is not satisfied with this. "In the near future, our goal is to establish ourselves in the sector; we want to become a reference salon, for which we are building a team of great professionals, stylists and hairdressing technicians to advise our clients. The Bernal Peluqueros team - made up of Elma Ruiz and Vanessa Muñoz, with Alberto at the helm - is a specialist in the area of advice. The technique used in the salon is visagism, which consists of a study of the features of the face to adapt the style that best suits each client.
"Before working on a certain style it is very important to know if it is going to fit the person," says Alberto; "when it comes to making a change of look it is essential to take into account the 'emotional styling': our hair (the cut, the hairstyle...) says a lot about us, so we try to know the client to know if he/she will feel identified with the work he/she is requesting," he explains.
What is most in demand every day at this unisex hairdresser's are haircuts and color. "Clients ask a lot for half-lengths, haircuts and bright colors; on the other hand, clients want contrast between lengths, they no longer ask for the classic haircut", reveals Alberto.
It is precisely these styles that will continue to be worn during 2015, "half-lengths and full, slicked-back manes will remain in fashion; pixie cuts and symmetrical manes will also continue to be on trend". In terms of color, blonde will continue to be the leader, although "single-tone highlights are no longer in fashion, but rather blends, which make the hair look more natural".
As for hair treatments, those aimed at preventing hair loss stand out. "It is important to apply them before the seasonal change, to anticipate hair loss," says Alberto. At Bernal Peluqueros, they have launched a free hair bulb analysis service and design personalized treatments to suit the client's needs. The salon also offers other types of hair care treatments, such as treatments based on apple stem cells, which "serve to thicken the hair shaft and rejuvenate the hair, giving it more volume, body and nutrition".
HAIRSTYLING. Another of the services offered at Bernal Peluqueros is bridal hairstyling. Elma Ruiz is in charge of pampering the clients' hair on such a special day. "We know that on that day the bride is very nervous, so we make sure that there are no other clients in the salon, to avoid nerves and stress," says Elma. In addition to wedding hairstyles, Bernal Peluqueros also does hairstyles for all kinds of events. Among the styles that will be most popular this year are updos with very pronounced stripes, low updos - "romantic type" - and loose hair with waves. "Braids will continue to be a trend, whether combined with updos or side braids, herringbone braids or braids with intertwined strands. In addition, the world of beads will come in with a bang: the hairstyle will be decorated with chains, flowers, tiaras...", explains the stylist. As for the styles that will be banished in 2015, Elma points out the toupees and the raised areas at the front; "all the volume will be worn at the back," she adds.
